WHAT IS COUNSELLING?Counselling is an empowering process that encourages people to confront issues and problems, and to work at restoring well-being. It is the process of helping and supporting a person to resolve personal, social, or psychological challenges and difficulties. The main aim is to help you work through various issues so that you can cope with your problems better.

WHAT IS PSYCHOTHERAPY?Although the terms counselling and psychotherapy are often used interchangeably, there is a difference between them. Counselling is more short-term, while Psychotherapy on the other hand is long-term and focuses on a broader range of issues.

Why people come to counselling? |
|
People often come to counselling for help with individual or relationship issues causing them distress or concern. By talking openly, with a trained, objective professional it is possible to see things with greater clarity and understanding. By drawing on your strengths and applying new strategies you can change the way your react, and make a new response. |
I BELIEVE WITH THE RIGHT SUPPORT PEOPLE CAN
MOVE FORWARD IN THEIR LIVES
As each person is unique, an integrative approach works best for me when working with clients. I particularly like Carl Roger's Person-Centred approach as it aims to value a client's experience in a non-judgemental and empathic way. The goal of the approach is to help the client to reach their full potential by providing the client with an opportunity to develop a sense of self where they can begin to realise how their attitudes, feelings and behaviour are being negatively affected.
